Muhurat

Choghadiya

Choghadiya divides the daylight and the night each into eight parts, and labels each part as auspicious or inauspicious. It is one of the quickest ways to find a reasonable window for travel, a purchase, or a small new beginning.

The auspicious Choghadiya are Amrit, Shubh, Labh, and Char, while Rog, Kaal, and Udveg are best avoided. The sequence rotates by weekday and depends on local sunrise and sunset, which is why timings differ by city.

For everyday timing, the Choghadiya and the daily [Panchang](/panchang/) are enough. For an important event such as a marriage, a housewarming, or a business launch, a personal muhurat chosen from your chart is far more reliable than a general table.
