How Vimshottari Dasha works
The Vimshottari system assigns a fixed number of years to each of the nine grahas. The cycle runs in a specific sequence starting from Ketu and covers 120 years in total. The Moon's nakshatra position at birth determines which Dasha you begin with and how much of that first period remains.
Within every Mahadasha, nine sub-periods (Antardashas) run in the same sequence, each adding a second planetary voice to the timing. Below the Antardasha is the Pratyantardasha (sub-sub-period), allowing astrologers to narrow predictions to a specific month or even week.
